Cherimoya

According to Wikipedia, Mark Twain described the cherimoya as the “most delicious fruit known to men.” The first time I had it, it was clearly not ripe, and tasted kind of pine-y;  I was very skeptical of his claim. The second time though, I let it soften for a really long time, until I almost thought it was past it’s prime. It was not, and was quite delicious. Similar in flavor to Monstera fruit, with a hint of papaya to it, but without the monstera’s threat of loosing your voice, it is quite delicious (I’m not sure that I would describe it as the most delicious, but Mark Twain probably didn’t shop at Russo’s).
