At a minimum these are the prettiest cherries. Also I’m pretty sure these are what they make maraschino cherries from.

More flavorful than regular honeydew, less flavorful than cantaloupe.

As you would expect from a currant, tart and small.

Not actually that unique, it’s similar to Ugli fruit (probably sold by the same company), but with a better fruit to pith ratio.

This is a kind of Asian pear, but shaped more like the pears you may be used to.

In spite of it’s similarity to a grapefruit, the Pomello is pretty tasty, although quite hard to eat. I’ve never met a citrus that fought so hard to keep the wedges together.

Similar to other citruses. The pith is super bitter. I found myself not even eating the skins of the wedges. Other than that it is pretty tasty. Not as good as a clementine or orange though.

According to Wikipedia, Mark Twain described the cherimoya as the “most delicious fruit known to men.” The first time I had it, it was clearly not ripe, and tasted kind of pine-y;  I was very skeptical of his claim. The … Continue reading →
